When Dr. Philipp Bonhoeffer, a pediatric cardiac surgeon, among the most popular in Europe, as well as great music lover since childhood, arrived to Montecastelli, he felt an immediate strong bond with the community of Montecastelli, so much so that he decided to create a concert hall, a workshop of violins and to restore various historical architectural building located in the village. He converted the former Church into a concert hall which is called 'the 99 chairs room". This is because there are 99 different chairs, very different from the monotony of the chairs present in the majority of concert halls. They were gifted from those who loved and supported the project. Many came from the villagers of Montecastelli, others from the rest of the world: France, America, Austria, Germany, England.
